Phonetic Alphabet Tables

Essential learning for any security professional. Phonetic Alphabets are universally used across a wide range of non-security roles as well and can be particularly useful to telephone related communication where local/regional dialects can often hamper effective communications.

A good tip is to print this page and to tape the alphabet to the side of your work station.

The NATO version was devised in the 1950's to provide clear communications for the military as the cold war gripped Europe. It is now universally recognised across Europe and North America and is the standard for professional communications
