Assessor and
Verifier Awards
Course Outline
These awards have been developed to support
candidates in the process of becoming competent and effective
assessors and verifiers in a variety of learning situations. They
offer formal qualifications in the areas of assessment and
verification and provide a good foundation of knowledge and skills
on which to build and develop assessment and verification
practice.
Assessor Award
The course assessor award consists of two units covering the
following areas:
- Unit A1: Assess candidates using a range
of methods
This unit looks at the role of the assessor using a range of
methods, how the assessor contributes to internal quality
assurance systems within an organisation and providing
effective feedback to learners.
- Unit A2: Assess candidate's performance
through observation
This unit looks at how the assessor uses observation to assess
candidates, how to plan assessments and providing effective
feedback to learners.
Verifier Award
The verifier award consists of one unit.
- Unit V1: Conduct internal quality
assurance of the assessment process
This unit looks at monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the
internal assessment process and carrying out related
verification or moderation activities.
Progression
Opportunities
Candidates can progress from A1 to A2 to V1 and to a range of
programmes including NVQ Training and Development and External
Verifier Awards.

At
the end of the course, learners will be able to:
