A recent CSCI report indicated that many care providers fail to
consistently meet the regulations on safe handling of medication,
with serious consequences for many service users. This course is
designed to provide an introduction to different medication and how
it is dealt with safely within different care settings. It meets
much of the Skills for Care Knowledge Set for medication and the
requirements regarding medication in the Common Induction Standards.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
-
Describe
policies and procedures relating to the safe handling of medicines.
-
Recognise
the different types of medicines.
-
Identify
safe practice when administering and handling medicines
-
Identify
how to monitor and report changes.
On completion of this
programme learners may be able to
progress on to the advanced
course and then to NVQ
