Skills for Care - NCFE Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines

Safe Handling of Medicines
Level 2

Course Outline

This programme is aimed at people working or wishing to work in a health and social care context. It is also appropriate for care workers working towards the National Care Standards at Induction and Foundation levels.

Course Content

The learning and assessment materials cover the following topics:

  • An introduction to medicines and prescriptions
  • Medicine supply, storage and disposal
  • The safe administration of medicines
  • Quality control and record keeping
  • Accountability, responsibility and confidentiality

Progression Opportunities
On completion of this course you could progress on to a range of programmes, including: NVQs in Care, Working with Older People,  Principles and Practice of Care, Manual Handling, NCFE Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Safety and Infection Control.

Duration
 The course is structured over  15 week programme that is delivered by a qualified facilitator in the workplace. Where appropriate it can be completed in a much shorter period.

Dates & Venues
 You can join a scheduled course with the Inspired Training Company at a location and time that best suits your needs. Larger groups or companies may wish to host their own course at their premises or another venue at time and location more suitable to their particular needs.
