Moving & Handling in Social Care

Everyone working in a health or care environment needs to be aware of the Legislation and risk involved in the moving and handling of individuals and how it can be minimised. The risks can be reduced by training and by following good practice guidelines. This course is designed to provide guidance on ways of working and the methods and equipment to be used. The content meets much of the Skills for Care knowledge set for Moving and Handling and the requirements regarding Moving and Handling in the common induction standards.  

Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Define the legal requirements and why they are necessary. 

  • Identify postural and other situations and their effects. 

  • Identify ways of reducing the risk of injury.

  • Prepare for and demonstrate safer Manual Handling techniques. 

Duration
The course lasts approximately four hours.

Dates & Venues
 You can join a scheduled course with Inspired Training at a location and time that best suits your needs. Larger groups or companies may wish to host their own course at their premises or another venue at time and location more suitable to their particular needs.
